QPR boss plays down City striker link

QPR manager Mark Hughes has played down reports linking him with a move for Manchester City striker John Guidetti.

The former City boss was said to be hoping to sign Guidetti, 20, on loan in January as a replacement for Andrew Johnson, who has been ruled out for most of the season with a knee injury.

But Hughes said: “It’s just speculation. Since Andy’s injury we haven’t made contact with any club.

“It [replacing Johnson] is perhaps something we’ll discuss at some stage, but so far we haven’t done so.”
