Willock and Cook fit to return for QPR

Chris Willock and Steve Cook are set to return for QPR’s clash with high-flying Ipswich.

Willock missed the Boxing Day defeat at Millwall after suffering an ankle injury against Southampton last Saturday.

Cook hasn’t played since coming on as a late substitute against Sheffield Wednesday but has been cleared to play at Portman Road.

Midfielder Jack Colback will miss the trip to East Anglia but Rangers boss Marti Cifuentes says the midfielder should be back for New Year’s Day encounter with Cardiff at Loftus Road or the FA Cup tie with Bournemouth next Saturday.

“For the last game Steve and Chrissy were not ready and Jack was not ready,” Cifuentes said.

“For the next game it will be different, Cook is ready, Willock is back, so it is only Jack out, but he has returned to training.

The club is doing a very good job. At this stage of the season to have only one player who is injured is very good news, so it is now about us trying to find the right freshness and opportunity and we will pick our best 11.

“I am not an expert but Jack has a muscular injury and the length of time for these injuries can take a but longer than you hope.

“We are assessing him day by day and he is on the pitch every day and is feeling better and better.

“He will not be ready for Ipswich but the way he looks he will be ready for Cardiff or Bournemouth.”
