Richards recovering from calf problem, says QPR boss

Taylor Richards is working his way back from a calf problem, says QPR boss Marti Cifuentes.

Richards has made just four Championship appearances this season and has not featured since coming on as a substitute against Plymouth three months ago.

“Taylor got an injury in his calf on the last day in January,” Cifuentes said.

“He’s on his way back. It was actually quite a big muscular injury and he’s recovering from that.”

Richards has started just one league game for Rangers since arriving from Brighton during the summer of 2022, initially on a season-long loan.

Under the terms of that loan deal, the club were obligated to sign him on a permanent transfer last summer.

Cifuentes says it is currently unclear when the Hammersmith-born 23-year-old might be available for selection.

He said: “We’re taking it week by week at this moment.

“It’s now getting to the last stage of the injury but it still might take some weeks – it’s difficult to say how many.

“We’re assessing him every week with the medical staff to make sure that when he’s back that’s he’s 100% ready to help the team.

“There’s no doubt that there’s a lot of talent in him and then of course it’s up to him to compete for a spot when he’s back from the injury.”
