QPR boss critical of players after defeat

QPR manager Harry Redknapp accused his players of giving up after Everton’s first goal at Goodison Park.

Rangers’ 2-0 defeat moved them closer to relegation and Redknapp was unhappy with the way they faded after a decent start.

He said: “It’s another blow. We went 1-0 down and then didn’t get started in the second half.

“Maybe a few felt sorry for themselves. We were sloppy. We can’t feel sorry for ourselves. We didn’t do our jobs.

“It was as though the belief drained out of us after the first goal.”

The result left Rangers seven points adrift of 17th-place – effectively eight because of their inferior goal difference.

They will be playing Championship football next season barring a stunning sequence of results in their final five matches.

“We have got to keep going – keep believing,” Redknapp added.

“It’s going to be hard and we probably need to win four of the five games, but all you can do is keep trying.”
