Perone signing confirmed by QPR

Bruno Perone has agreed a one-year deal with QPR and will sign subject to international clearance, the club have confirmed.

The Brazilian defender, 24, featured in a number of Rangers’ pre-season friendlies and boss Neil Warnock recently confirmed that he intended to offer him a contract.

Perone, who can also play in midfield, was initially regarded by the club as highly unlikely to be retained, but his performances convinced Warnock to keep him on.

Warnock was keen for him to play a full 90 minutes before making a final decision, but the manager’s plans were dashed when Perone suffered a broken nose during last Friday’s friendly at Luton.

Perone, who has an Italian passport, is likely to start the season as a fringe player but had indicated that he would still accept an offer from Rangers rather than try his luck elsewhere.

Several Championship clubs have been monitoring Perone’s situation since his arrival in England.
