New-look QPR Under-23 side concede six

QPR: Harlington training ground

A new-look QPR Under-23 side’s inexperience showed as they lost 6-3 at home to Charlton on Monday afternoon.

Rangers recently loaning out several fringe players meant they fielded a team mostly made up of youngsters stepping up from the Under-18s.

Aiden Mesias scored twice at the hosts’ Harlington training ground, where Olamide Shodipo was the only player to have made a senior league appearance for the R’s.

They were 3-0 down within 22 minutes but battled on and got a goal back courtesy of Mesias’ header shortly before half-time.

It was 3-2 five minutes into the second half, Mickel Platt firing home the loose ball after Shodipo’s shot had hit the post.

Charlton scored three more before Mesias netted again in stoppage time.
