More injury concerns as QPR draw at Charlton

There were more injury concerns for QPR as they drew at The Valley in a London derby in which they dominated possession but struggled to create clear-cut chances.

Rangers, plagued by injuries in the past couple of seasons, lost Ilias Chair and Richard Kone during Saturday’s defeat against Middlesbrough.

And this time it was Tariq Lamptey and Jimmy Dunne who picked up injuries.

Summer signing Lamptey, whose recent performances since returning from a long-term knee injury have been encouraging, was taken off late in the first half, and skipper Dunne three minutes into the second.

Paul Smyth missed Rangers’ best chance – keeper Arthur Okonkwo saved with his legs to deny him when he was through on goal in the second half.

Rumarn Burrell, meanwhile, was just unable to get decisive touches to low crosses from Amadou Mbengie and Lamptey’s replacement Dennis Cirkin.

Before the interval, Harvey Vale went close for QPR, shooting narrowly wide of the target, and Charlton’s Tyreece Campbell had a goal disallowed for offside. 

A win would have left Rangers top of the Championship table, which is instead led by West Bromwich Albion – their opponents on Saturday.
