Madsen set to return to full training as QPR await news on Kemper
QPR midfielder Nicolas Madsen is expected to return to full training later this week.
Madsen went off during the recent Carabao Cup game against Millwall and sat out Saturday’s 3-1 win at Portsmouth.
Julien Stephan believes the Dane will train with the rest of the squad before this weekend’s home game against Bolton.
Head coach Stephan has suggested that Madsen could return to action against Wanderers.
He said: “Nico is progressing from the knock he received last week. He’s very close to doing a full session with us. The situation is better and better each day.
“We have to wait until the last (training) session (this week) to know what we’ll decide, because it’s not just a question of one game – after (Bolton) we play Blackburn and after Blackburn we have two weeks in a row with three-game weeks.
“So we have to think about that as well and how we want to manage the players in order to have even more options during this period.
The Frenchman is also still waiting for news on summer signing Boy Kemper, who went off injured against Portsmouth.
Stephan said: “We’ll have to continue to assess him in the next days. Now I don’t know exactly the situation.
“Let’s see what happens in the next days and let’s see the assessment we have.
“We will see at the end of the week whether Boy is available or not.”
Amadou Mbengue also went off on Saturday but was merely suffering from cramp and is expected to play this weekend.
Cirkin latest
Dennis Cirkin, meanwhile, is still building up his fitness following his recent move to the club, prior to which the left-back was without a club and not involved in pre-season training.
“He is progressing day by day,” Stephan explained.
“He was out of contract, so he didn’t do a pre-season. But each day he is better and better.
“I think he is in a good way, but there is a difference between being in a good way and being ready to compete in the league.
“It’s very positive with Dennis in the last few days – really positive – but he started really only last week, so we need to wait a little bit to know exactly when he will be able to be involved.
“He has a strong desire and we will have to find the right moment and good timing.”
