‘Let’s have a challenge – come and do something’ Redknapp tells transfer targets

Harry Redknapp will tell prospective QPR signings they can be part of something special and keep the club in the Premier League.

Bottom of the table despite massive spending in recent years, Rangers are ready to spend again when the transfer window opens in an attempt to turn things around.

And manager Redknapp believes that while some players will steer clear, others may relish the challenge.

“I took a challenge on and can say to players ‘Come and have a go – if we get out of this it’ll be fantastic’. That’s the only message I can offer to players really,” said Redknapp.

“Let’s have a challenge – come and do something – because if we can keep this team up now you’ll have a fantastic end to the season.”

Six years ago Redknapp’s Portsmouth team, who were also bottom in December, stayed up by winning at Wigan in their penultimate match of the campaign.

“I walked on that pitch at Wigan and it was the best day ever.” he recalled.

“I want to do the same at QPR. That’s my dream. It’s all I think about day and night – trying to keep this team up.

“It would just be fantastic. I would love it so much. It’s consumed my whole life. It’s all I want.

“If I could be a part of the team that pulls it off it would be fantastic and that’s the only message I can give to any player; we’ll have a great time here if we can turn it round, so let’s see if we can.

“You’re looking for the right characters who want to come here, have a go and get us out of it.

“It’s going to be tough but believe me we’re still in there. We can still do it.”
