Hull v QPR player ratings
Daniel Bennie and Richard Kone scored late goals to give QPR victory at Hull. Here’s how we rated each Rangers player in the 3-1 win.
Joe Walsh: 6
Looked vulnerable when balls were put into his area in the first half, but produced a vital save early in the second when he got down quickly to keep out Paddy McNair’s flick.
Amadou Mbengue: 6
A dodgy start, with Liam Miller having some early joy on the flank, but Mbengue grew into the game, defended well for the most part and had a shot saved in the second half.
Jimmy Dunne: 7
Played a key role in the opening goal, when McNair touched the ball into the net at the far post while under pressure from the Rangers captain. Dunne was solid at the back too.
Ronnie Edwards: 5
At fault for Hull’s goal, when his botched clearance bounced off Walsh and straight to scorer Joe Gelhardt. Edwards was generally below par despite being moved back to his preferred position of central defender.
Rhys Norrington-Davies: 6
Ploughed away on the left and had a first-half strike saved. But allowed Yu Hirakawa to set up Hull’s goal – a really poor piece of defending.
Harvey Vale: 7
Did well on the right. Served up some excellent deliveries, including the corner which led to the opening goal, as well as a cross Rayan Kolli was unable to connect with. Took up some clever positions and always looked a threat.
Isaac Hayden: 6
Steady in midfield before making way for the fit-again Jonathan Varane late on.
Nicolas Madsen: 6
Not at his best, but he competed well and always looked to create.
Koki Saito: 5
Made very little impact on the left and struggled to hold onto the ball.
Rayan Kolli: 6
Lost possession a number of times and his decision-making was sometimes poor. But he worked hard, helped Rangers defend from the front, and linked up well with Kone a couple of times in the second half, including when Kolli shot over.
Richard Kone: 7
Did superbly for his stoppage-time goal, chasing and winning the ball on the left-hand edge of the halfway line before dashing through and slotting home. Missed a couple of sitters just before that, though, including a nonchalant attempted chip that went wrong. Those misses could have been costly, but Kone netted at the third attempt when another chance came his way.
Daniel Bennie: 8
His brilliant goal after coming on – a cracking 30-yard strike – was one of the highlights of the season so far.
Jonathan Varane: 6
Made a welcome return after injury when he came off the bench.
