Late change for QPR’s opening friendly

QPR have hastily arranged a match against Verona Stars for Saturday after Shakhtar Donetsk withdrew from a planned friendly in Italy on the eve of the game.

Rangers will still kick off their pre-season campaign at 5pm local time (16:00 BST) but the venue will now be Stadio Comunale di Dormelletto.

Head coach Chris Ramsey said the club were “completely powerless” to prevent the last-minute change after Ukrainian outfit Shakhtar pulled out unexpectedly.

QPR say fans who attend Saturday’s fixture will be given a voucher for the club’s superstore and invited behind the scenes at Rangers’ Harlington training ground.
