Ian Holloway says Idrissa Sylla did not believe he was fit enough to be involved in Saturday’s win against Nottingham Forest.
Sylla was an unused substitute at Loftus Road, where Rangers’ 2-0 victory ensured their Championship status for next season.
Manager Holloway, who has previously publicly criticised Sylla for his work-rate and his reaction to being substituted against Reading, suggested that the striker had to be persuaded to join the squad.
Holloway said: “Sylla said he wasn’t fit. I had to say ‘Come on, you’re only 80% but come on get on the bench’.
“It’s a realisation that we have to do something. This group is too fragile because of the changes made. There’s no stability.”
Sylla has scored 10 goals this season, having started 14 league matches since being signed from Anderlecht last summer.

He is a big unit & not afraid to put himself about. Maybe his skills are left wanting at times & his work rate can be frustrating but he is a fearsome sight if your trying to stop him. I hope he stays for next season maybe not a first choice but as an option I believe he could be a great asset
