Holloway: QPR’s pressing style is here to stay

QPR: Ian Holloway

Ian Holloway promised QPR will maintain the pressing and work-rate they showed in a rousing start to their season.

Conor Washington scored both goals as Rangers beat Reading 2-0 at Loftus Road.

“If you press as well as we’re going to press then you’re going to look a better team,” Holloway said.

“We got chances off of pressing them. They changed their shape three or four times and we didn’t feel we needed to.

“I think we got things at the right time and I did think play would be stopped for the second goal.

“But we played really well and I’m very proud of the players for the work they put in and proud of our crowd.

“I’m also delighted for Conor. He’s a natural goalscorer and could have had a hatful. I told him if he pressed then he’d get extra chances.

“The pressing of Conor and Jamie Mackie was magnificent. The whole team played really well and worked so hard.

“Onwards and upwards. When things go wrong I want them to work as hard and be as up for it as they were today.”
