Ian Holloway defended Darnell Furlong and Yeni Ngbakoto after replacing them at half-time during QPR’s goalless draw with Burton.

Rangers boss Holloway sent on recent signing Bright Osayi-Samuel for his debut and striker Matt Smith.

He later introduced Idrissa Sylla as well but the home side were unable to break the deadlock.

“The changes I made at half-time – which was unlike me – I thought were necessary,” said Holloway.

“It wasn’t the two players’ fault who I brought off, but I wanted to win the game.

“I’ve put on Matt Smith, I’ve put on Sylla and I’ve put on Bright-Samuel. So was I happy with what we saw in the first half? No.

“Unfortunately, the first 45 minutes, the lads didn’t get it right. Yeni’s a much better player than he showed there.

“I felt the people I brought off accepted it in the right manner.”

Holloway also revealed that Kazenga LuaLua was dropped after failing to report for training on time on Friday.
