Wolves’ Henry could be QPR’s next signing

Karl Henry could be the next player on his way to QPR.

Rangers are interested in the midfielder – who turned down a move to Loftus Road to join Wolves from Stoke in 2006.

Wolves, relegated from the Championship last season, are offloading Henry despite the 30-year-old having three years left on his contract.

Henry’s form led to him being included in a 40-man provisional England squad for a match against Denmark in 2006, although he did not make the final cut of 26.

He was infamously involved in a spat with Joey Barton during QPR’s 3-0 win at Molineux the season before last.

  • Now you've got him you'll find that he'll be a different player for you than he was for us over the last 2 1/2 seasons. Good luck to him.

  • Thank god hes gone, sunday league player at best,if redknapp thinks hes good, god help him.

  • Solid player, breaks up play and works best alongside a creative midfielder.

A couple of reckless challenges do not make him a thug. He works hard, cares and there're a lot of stupid Wolves fans that can't see how much he brings to the team.

He's better than 3rd Div and the wage bill needs cutting.

  • To listen to some of your comments, it would seem that Karl Henry appeared on a pitch with a scythe. He did not! He turned up with his boots and did what footballers have been earning their wages for and getting their teams trophies by, he made 'tackles'.

That's right, 'tackles', the one thing that seems to have been abandoned in today's game in favour of players who fall over blades of uneven grass in the penalty area or anytime they have lost the ball.

As a Wolves fan, we have done a great dis-service to Karl Henry. When fans are asking for loyalty, here was one who was prepared to give blood on behalf of the team and the City and we threw him out.

QPR, you could do a lot worse.

Good luck to him if he goes, whatever short sighted people want to say about him, he was club captain for years and has served us well.

Also to the person who quoted "from a provincial town, somewhere in the midlands". As was stated earlier, Wolverhampton is a city - Look it up, we've been more successful than you over the years and by the way.....where is the city of QPR????

  • Henry has his detractors at Molineux but there are plenty more who rate him more highly. He's certainly Championship material. It's not been his fault that he's been told to be a DM and stay there. He was also very good at right back.
As for the red cards, the refs were always looking out for him after he won the Barton battle which was featured on MotD and some of their decisions were dreadful; Brighton stands out particularly (straight red for a one footed challenge and he made contact with the ball) and as for Arsenal one...well, you know what Arsenal are like - that was pure ref panic under pressure.
I'd be very happy for him to stay and get picked for the starting eleven.

  • Please sign Karl Henry. He will at least give your keeper practice at facing penalties. That's the good news. The bad news is that he gets more red cards than goals. As for dressing room unrest, I heard you had a lot of that last season. Henry is pretty good at the old dressing room unrest. As for match tactics, nothing too fancy. A few back and sideways passes will be right up his street, but ask him to play any fancy new-fangled passing game and he'll have the manager sent packing in no time. Good luck.

  • OK, Henry broke Zamora's leg at Fulham and that was a great pity but he didn't make a bad tackle as slow-mo film showed and he wasn't sent off for it either. He had a battle (and won!) with Barton who on the following day was able to air his grievance on London television without reply and the media targeted him thereafter. Getting one over Barton doesn't make the player a thug.

QPR have more than their fair share of players who have bottled it and won't play for their own pride, the pride of wearing the shirt or for the pride of playing for the fans. Their wage packet has been their top priority.

You could do a lot worse than get Henry on the cheap.

By the way, what difference does it make where a player comes from? If those are the priorities of the fans then QPR are in trouble. Besides, Wolverhampton's a city and not a town.

  • Please take him, he's utter garbage and we've been desperate to get rid for at least two years (personally didn't even rate him when we won the league). He's one of the most awful 'footballers' I've ever seen pull on a wolves shirt (and I've seen some rubbish in my time) and one of the key reasons behind our recent demise...can't wait to see the back of him.

    Good luck.

  • Karl has become something of a hate figure at Molineux for easons that are not immediately obvious. It has made his position untenable, and forced Kenny jacket's hand. He is fit and experienced and could still do a good job for someone alongside a creative midfielder (which he is not!). If you want someone to provide solidity in the middle of the park, he might just be your man - and you'll get him at a bargain price because of our need to get his wages off our bill in League 1 !
