Harry: Fernandes persuaded Remy to sign

QPR manager Harry Redknapp says chairman Tony Fernandes played a key role in persuading Loic Remy to join the club.

Remy initially declined to even meet Redknapp to discuss the move, but Rangers were confident the striker could be convinced to change his mind.

Newcastle were also keen to sign him from Marseille, who accepted bids from both clubs, but QPR offered substantially higher wages.

Redknapp said: “I didn’t think we’d get him. I went to see him at Marseille last week and he wasn’t keen.

“But the chairman worked ever so hard. He wouldn’t give up and the boy decided to come.

“Remy’s quick, a French international, his movement is excellent and he has the potential to be a real star in the Premier League.”

"worked hard", ££££££££££££££££££££££££££££££££££££££££££££££££££££ welcome to the mercenary hope he is as prolific as last year (not) and will laugh my head off at the end of the season when QPR go down anyway. Potential to be a star in the premiership, maybe but you won't be in the premiership
