Gallen’s interim role confirmed by Rangers

QPR have confirmed that Under-18s boss Steve Gallen has been placed in charge of the club’s development squad on an interim basis following Marc Bircham’s departure.

Gallen will take the team to Ipswich for a game on Monday, with Rangers considering their longer-term options after Bircham left to join Ian Holloway at Millwall as first-team coach.

A number of people have expressed an interest in the role at Loftus Road, including former Rangers defender David Bardsley.

Gallen is also keen on the position and manager Harry Redknapp, who expects the club to appoint from within, will discuss the situation with his backroom team next week.
