Steve Gallen has been promoted to first-team coach in a reshuffle of QPR’s backroom staff.
The 41-year-old, brother of former R’s forward Kevin, steps up from being manager of the development squad.
That job will now be taken on by Paul Hall, who had previously been an assistant to Paul Furlong with the Under-18 age group.
Academy coach Simon Ireland will also help Gallen with the first-team coaching. The duo replace Kevin Bond, whose departure was confirmed last week.
Meanwhile, goalkeeping coach Kevin Hitchcock has left the club after turning down a new contract.
Academy manager Perry Suckling, a former keeper and goalkeeping coach, will step in temporarily, with a full-time appointment being made in due course.
On Gallen’s appointment, director of football Les Ferdinand told QPR’s website: “It’s a natural progression for Steve to join the first-team coaching staff.
“He’s been at QPR for a number of years and understands the fabric of the club and what we are trying to do here.
“The fact he’s worked with a number of our younger players, who we are keen to see progress over the coming years, is a bonus.”

Can these people coach seniors in the Championship. Some are / will be senior pro s. Players take notice of coaching set up before even joining. No such thing as natural progression if club staff are lacking specific experience / taleht. Hope not an exercise in lowering wage bill and HOPING it works. Q P R is not a business experiment/ gambling device, Lots of unproven people around first team now.
