‘Lots of calls’ about QPR role – Redknapp

QPR manager Harry Redknapp says there has been plenty of interest in the job vacated by Marc Bircham.

Former Rangers midfielder Bircham recently left his role as development-squad boss to join Ian Holloway at Millwall as first-team coach.

Steve Gallen has since been placed in interim charge of the side and wants the job permanently.

Gallen is the brother of ex-QPR striker Kevin.

And the club are currently minded to offer the position to Under-18s coach Gallen, if not on a permanent basis then at least until the end of the season.

“I’ve had lots of phone calls from people who want the job,” Redknapp revealed.

“There are people at the club who already work here, so maybe we’ll recruit from within.

“Whoever it is they’ll be working with me and I’d want to have a big input for sure.”
