Cook calls for Holloway to be given new contract

Lee Cook believes QPR should give manager Ian Holloway a new contract this summer.

The Hammersmith-born Cook played under Holloway during the former Rangers winger’s time as a player at Loftus Road.

Holloway’s current deal runs until the summer of 2019 and Cook feels he should be given another contract.

“For me, yes,” said Cook, who made almost 200 appearances for the R’s.

Speaking on the Open All R’s podcast, Cook added: “I’ve heard fans and a lot of my friends moaning the performances have not been good enough – not just the results, the performances have been a bit flat – but we’ve always seemed to dig out results at the times we’ve needed them.

“There were the Wolves and Sheffield United results, when it was getting a bit flat and then, boom, we beat them and everyone rose again – similar to this little stint with Villa and Fulham.

“The boys are pulling out performances at the right time. It’s not the strongest squad in the division and I think we’re overachieving a little bit with the squad that we’ve got.

“He’s had a mess to sort out. It’s been quite bad down there. I think they’ve done a great job.”

  • Always liked Ollie, but some of his tactics have bee suspect at times this season. The real problem of the club has been TF who has got the running and bisiness end of the club very wrong. Hopefully TF has learnt his lesson and with that success will return to the club.

  • He's giving the kids a chance. Maybe because he has to with the budget he has to work to. But I think we must give him the chance to make these kids regular starters
