Rangers youngsters suffer first defeat

QPR’s development side had their unbeaten start to the season ended by Coventry City, who won 2-0 in driving rain at Loftus Road on Monday evening.

Ivor Lawton opened the scoring nine minutes before half-time and James Maddison doubled the visitors’ lead in the second half.

Steve Gallen’s team went close to scoring several times; Aaron Mitchell hit the post and Max Ehmer and Cole Kpekawa were both denied by goal-line clearances.

Mitchell also saw a shot tipped onto the crossbar late on and Josh Laurent went close for Rangers too.
