Phillips and Luongo fire QPR to friendly win
Matt Phillips netted the opener and Mass Luongo struck his first goal for QPR as they beat Dundee United 2-1 at Barnet on Wednesday.
Charlie Austin also played the vast majority of the match in a strong Rangers side, which also included summer arrivals Jamie Mackie, Luongo and Ben Gladwin, Rob Green in goal as well as trialist Christopher Schorch.
Phillips, who was the subject of a £7m from West Brom earlier this month, grabbed the first goal on 19 minutes when he rounded goalkeeper Luis Zwick.
Dundee United were level on 31 minutes as Mario Bilate finished past Green, who denied Chris Erskine late in the first half.
Luongo went close in the second half with an effort that went just wide of the upright but on 64 minutes he got his reward when a header eluded the keeper’s grasp.
Austin had a chance to extend Rangers’ margin of victory but fired wide late on.
