Stephan plays down Clarke-Salter injury

Julien Stephan has again played down the significance of Jake Clarke-Salter going off injured while playing for QPR’s development side.

The defender, who had not played since January, when he had hip surgery, recently went off just 11 minutes into his comeback game.

A scan after that apparent setback revealed nothing of note and he duly resumed training.

However, in another outing for the second string this week, Clarke-Salter lasted half an hour before going off after picking up a knock.

But head coach Stephan has again insisted there is no cause for alarm.

Stephan said: “It’s just a little injury. He will probably come back on the (training) pitch next week.

“He will come back quickly to the squad on the (training) pitch. I’m not worried about the situation.

“We just need to rebuild Jake because we know he’s a very good player and we want him back.”

Meanwhile, Kwame Poku will again be involved for Rangers’ development side before being considered for a first-team return following his recent injury lay-off.
