Rangers boss hails ‘outstanding’ Dunne

Harry Redknapp has paid tribute to Richard Dunne for his displays since being recalled to the QPR side.

The veteran defender, 35, was dropped after struggling badly in Rangers’ opening two matches back in the Premier League.

But he has performed well against Liverpool, Aston Villa and Chelsea since being restored in place of Rio Ferdinand.

And Rangers boss Redknapp declared: “He’s been outstanding really since he’s come back. He’s done a fantastic job for us.

“He’s a great guy as well. He got left out of the team early on but his attitude never changed.

“All you want is good lads – that’s all you ask for. You want people who come in every day, enjoy being footballers, pick their wages up and work hard and train hard.

“If you’ve got a good group of lads you’ve got a chance in this game. If you’ve got a few dodgy ones it’s very difficult.”

QPR face Dunne’s former club Manchester City at Loftus Road on Saturday.

The Irishman spent nine years with City before leaving to join Villa in 2009.
