JET set to join Gillingham on loan from QPR

Jay Emmanuel-Thomas is set to join Gillingham from QPR on a season-long loan.

The 25-year-old is surplus to requirements at Loftus Road and ended last season on loan at MK Dons.

He was signed on a free transfer from Bristol City a year ago and enjoyed a purple patch early last season, scoring four goals in seven appearances and impressing while Rangers were without the injured Charlie Austin.

But he became out of favour under former head coach Chris Ramsey, whose successor Jimmy Floyd Hasselbaink quickly decided he did not want Emmanuel-Thomas either.

Meanwhile, midfielder Michael Doughty has also left Rangers on season-long loan, returning to Swindon Town.
