QPR ‘going in a different direction’ – Hasselbaink
Jimmy Floyd Hasselbaink insists QPR’s season should not be viewed as a failure if they fail to reach the play-offs.
Hasselbaink landed the job as Rangers manager in November after Chris Ramsey was axed because the club were not challenging for promotion.
They have since won just two of their 15 matches under the Dutchman, are 13th in the Championship table and look unlikely to make the top six.
“You always want to get as high as possible,” said Hasselbaink, whose side are 13 points adrift of the play-off places.
“But QPR have been relegated from the Premier League and everybody thinks it’s easy just to come back, and it isn’t.
“A lot of things have happened at the club and a lot of changes have happened.
“At the moment we are going in a different direction – a direction where we need to build and need to sustain the club in the right way.
“Of course we’d like to finish in the top six and get promoted, but you have to be realistic.”
Rangers face Birmingham City at Loftus Road on Saturday and hope Alejandro Faurlin will be fit to return after a thigh problem.

After relegation last season & the poor start to the season under Ramsey. The signing Off JFH was to be the catalyst to our season & to be fair to JFH the damage was already done
We believe we are now safe in the championship so I would like to think we can now play an open attacking game giving the loyal fans an uplifting finale to this season & hope for the next

At last,a manager who tells it like it is.The only way forward is to start rebuilding now,I just hope that part of that rebuilding involves using some of our kids,after all they are supposed to be the future and we would appear to have enough points now to be safe,what better time to integrate some of our youngsters to see if they are truly good enough.
