QPR clinch McCarthy signing despite late approaches from Liverpool and Tottenham

QPR are set to complete the signing of Alex McCarthy from Reading despite Liverpool and Tottenham making late approaches for the goalkeeper.

The 24-year-old has agreed personal terms and is moving to Loftus Road for an initial £2m.

McCarthy has made one appearance for Reading this season and 75 in total.

He has also had loan spells at Cambridge United, Aldershot, Yeovil, Brentford, Leeds and Ipswich.
