QPR boss tight-lipped over Bendtner

QPR manager Jimmy Floyd Hasselbaink has refused to comment on whether the club are likely to sign former Arsenal striker Nicklas Bendtner.

The Dane has been a free agent since being shown the door by German club Wolfsburg in April and is keen to return to London.

Rangers have been made aware of this and will consider signing him if other targets are not signed ahead of Wednesday’s transfer deadline.

Asked after Saturday’s 1-0 win at Wigan if the R’s are likely to sign Bendtner, Hasselbaink said: “I’m not going to comment on that. He’s a good player. I’m going to leave it like that.”

Bendtner, 28, spent 10 years at Arsenal, who signed the Denmark international from FC Copenhagen in 2004.

He made 108 Premier League appearances for the Gunners, scoring 24 goals.

He had loan spells at Birmingham, Sunderland and Juventus before signing for Wolfsburg in 2014.

Rangers are keen to sign a winger and at least one striker, with numerous potential signings under consideration, and Hasselbaink is hopeful that deals will be done.

He said: “I would hope so. We are looking at a few. Hopefully the phone will be ringing a lot.

“Hopefully we’ll see a few new faces and integrate them straightaway.”

  • Insanity if he's looking at Bendtner. A true Harry Redknapp signing. Thought we were looking to the future. The one exception would be Crouchie, who loves the club, would give everything and be a great example to the young forwards.

  • Bendtner is a far better player than Polter but it has been a while since he has kicked a ball...I wonder if he mentally prepared for the challenge though. If in doubt - then move on to other targets.
