Steve McClaren said he decided not to risk Angel Rangel against Norwich because the veteran defender was nursing a groin strain.

Rangel was replaced by Alex Baptiste in the QPR line-up at Loftus Road, where McClaren’s side lost 1-0.

“He has an injury. He has a groin strain, so we didn’t risk him,” Rangers manager McClaren explained.

Geoff Cameron was suffering from fatigue towards the end of the midweek win against Millwall and, as expected, was replaced in midfield by Josh Scowen.

Wednesday’s outing was the on-loan Cameron’s first full 90 minutes of the season.

McClaren said: “Geoff Cameron would have played, but that was his first 90 minutes on Wednesday. It’s difficult to recover and Josh gave us good energy in there.”
