Ex-Spurs coach Ramsey set for QPR role

QPR are set to appoint former Tottenham coach Chris Ramsey as their new academy boss.

Ramsey, currently assistant manager of the England Under-17s, worked alongside Les Ferdinand at Spurs and has been in line for role at Loftus Road for some time.

Former Rangers and England star Ferdinand was recently given the title of head of football operations by chairman Tony Fernandes and part of his remit is to oversee a revamp of the club’s youth system.

That has involved appointing a successor to Richard Allen – also formerly of Tottenham – who has resigned as academy boss at Rangers to take up new role at the Football Association.

Ferdinand’s ex-QPR team-mate David Bardsley, who runs an academy in the United States, was among the applicants for the position, but Ramsey was always the frontrunner.

He spent 10 years at Tottenham and left the north London club along with Ferdinand in June after Tim Sherwood was axed as manager.
