Sigthorsson deal ‘dragging on’ – Redknapp

Harry Redknapp is considering other targets after admitting QPR’s attempt to capture striker Kolbeinn Sigthorsson is “dragging on” despite a fee being agreed with Ajax.

West London Sport recently revealed that Rangers were in talks to sign Sigthorsson and subsequently that they had made £5m offer, which has since been accepted.

However, they have so-far been unable to agree personal terms with the 24-year-old Icelander, who they still hope to bring to Loftus Road.

Manager Redknapp said: “It seems to be dragging on a bit. We agreed a fee with Ajax and it’s now about getting a deal with the boy and it’s been difficult.

“We met with his agent – his brother – and we couldn’t get a deal. It still could happen.”

A number of other forwards are on Rangers’ radar and the club are interested in Troy Deeney.

Watford striker Deeney, 26, scored 25 goals last season and would jump at the chance to play in the Premier League.

But Redknapp currently has no interest in signing Patrick Bamford despite recently being linked with the Chelsea youngster.

Meanwhile, QPR have had bid for Leroy Fer rejected by Norwich but are likely to table an improved offer.
