Struggling QPR are well beaten at Swansea

Swansea 3 QPR 0

Two Swansea players scored their first senior goals to help to condemn QPR to defeat at the Liberty Stadium.

Courtney Baker-Richardson scored against the run of play on 16 minutes and Connor Roberts’ strike with 13 minutes remaining doubled the Swans’ lead.

Jay Fulton’s deflected shot late on – only his second goal for the Welsh side – capped a resounding win for them.

They went ahead when Oliver McBurnie got above former Swansea stalwart Angel Rangel at the far post to head Kyle Naughton’s 16th-minute cross down to Baker-Richardson, who finished emphatically.

QPR had made a sharp start and Massimo Luongo almost gave them an early lead.

Luongo, captain in the absence of the injured Toni Leistner, who picked up a knock in training on Friday, fired into the side netting after being set up by Luke Freeman.

But Rangers struggled to create chances – although Nahki Wells missed a decent opportunity when he shot over after being teed up by Tomer Hemed midway through the second half.

The second goal crushed any realistic hope of a QPR comeback.

Roberts collected Fulton’s pass and cleverly feinted to shoot before then firing past keeper Joe Lumley.

QPR: Lumley, Rangel, Baptiste, Lynch, Bidwell, Eze (Smith 69), Cameron, Luongo, Freeman (Hall 86), Wells (Wszolek 86), Hemed.
Subs: Ingram, Osayi-Samuel, Smyth, Kakay.

  • Here we go again, more post match drivel from McC expected. Ollie must be wondering what difference his sacking has made - I certainly am.

  • Too little too late with the subs. Usual post match drivel expected from McC. (I see its already started).
DofF still remaining quiet. Meanwhile relegation is just around the corner. Ollie must be wondering what difference his sacking has achieved - I certainly am.

  • Run out of ideas and heading for a relegation dog fight at best? McClaren is not the right man for qpr and never will be. We sacked the best man for the job at the end of last season.

  • 3-0 what a debacle. Come on McC do the decent thing, admit the jobs beyond you and resign - even the DofF is looking to desert the sinking ship.

  • Now we know where the 'next level' is - Div one, no wonder they had to get rid of Ollie to achieve it.
