Fernandes confirms Taarabt will not be returning to QPR

Tony Fernandes has insisted on Twitter that there is no chance of Adel Taarabt returning to QPR.

The star of Rangers’ 2011 Championship-winning side has been out of favour at Benfica for some time.

The Sun have claimed he is being lined up for a return to Loftus Road that R’s boss Steve McClaren is keen to sign him.

The club and McClaren have no interest at all in bringing in Taarabt, whose attitude off the pitch won him few friends during his time at Rangers.

In any case, QPR are prevented from making signings during this month’s transfer window, apart from in certain circumstances – such as if they sell a player – as part of their Financial Fair Play settlement.

The club cannot add to their wage bill, pay agents’ fees or make loan signings during this window.

Taarabt is under contract until next year but The Sun say Benfica will let him go now.

Fans on social media have been discussing the supposed possible return of the Moroccan, but QPR co-owner Fernandes left them in doubt it will not be happening, telling them there is “zero” chance of Taarabt being signed.
