Stoke v QPR player ratings

Angel Rangel was the unlikely goalscoring hero for QPR as they earned a point at Stoke. Here’s how we rated each Rangers player in the 2-2 draw.

Joe Lumley: 6

A composed display between the posts. Not to blame for either Stoke goal.

Angel Rangel: 9

Sublime stuff from the veteran right-back, who defended faultlessly throughout and scored two fine goals, both after being set up by Ebere Eze. The first was a thumping header and the second an emphatic finish.

Toni Leistner: 7

Had a very solid game at the centre of the R’s defence, where he won countless headers and challenges.

Joel Lynch: 5

Has been in good form but was below par this time. Gave the ball away for the first Stoke goal and it was not the only time the defender lost possession.

Jake Bidwell: 7

Worked tirelessly up and down the left. Defensively sound and got forward when possible.

Pawel Wszolek: 6

Lacks quality but is an honest worker on the right flank. Played his part in a good team performance.

Jordan Cousins: 7

Gave a good account of himself after being given the nod ahead of Josh Scowen to replace Geoff Cameron in midfield. Battled well and covered plenty of ground.

QPR manager Steve McClaren: “I thought we were excellent. Whether we’d won, lost or drew, what pleased me was the spirit and the courage to play.”

Massimo Luongo: 7

Also competed well in the middle of the park, where Stoke were strong but never had things all their own way.

Luke Freeman: 6

Deserves credit for his work-rate but his usual quality was missing. Even his set-piece delivery was unusually disappointing.

Ebere Eze: 8

Super stuff from the youngster. He drifted out of the game in spells but made an impact with two brilliant assists. Delightfully deceived a defender and crossed for Rangel to head in the opener and later set the Spaniard up again with a lovely pass.

Nahki Wells: 7

Dragged a shot wide and had little else to go on in terms of service, but he continually occupied the Stoke defence, creating space for the likes of Eze.

  • Happy with this result & the determination to get it.
But these are matches we need to win moving forward

  • I fail to understand how anyone can claim PW 'lacks quality'. In my book, he deserved more than the 6 given, likewise LF deserved more. The 9 given to AR is understandable but I wonder what score would be awarded had he not scored 2 goals.
