Two for Smyth as QPR Under-23s score six

Paul Smyth scored against Cardiff last season on his QPR debut.

Paul Smyth scored twice and Sean Goss also found the net for QPR’s development side in a 6-2 win against Colchester on Friday afternoon.

There were goals too for Aramide Oteh, Osman Kakay and recent signing Lewis Walker in the game at Loftus Road, where the hosts scored four and hit the woodwork four times in the first half.

Oteh shot against the post early on and QPR went close again when Chay Tilt’s effort came back off the bar and Goss’ attempt to fire in the rebound struck the post.

Goss then did score with a cool finish after a slip by a Colchester defender.

When the post was rattled a fourth time, by Smyth’s right-footed drive, this time the rebound was tucked away by Oteh.

Defender Kakay side-footed in the third after Tilt had pulled the ball back from the right.

And Smyth got the fourth with a left-footed finish from 10 yards out after being set up by Tilt.

After the visitors scored twice after the break, Smyth raced half the length of the pitch down the left-hand side before slotting home his second and his team’s fifth.

Striker Walker completed the scoring after good work on the left by Deshane Dalling.
