QPR assess injury to key defender Simpson

QPR will assess Danny Simpson on Monday amid concern he could miss the trip to face Championship leaders Burnley.

The right-back picked up a knock during Rangers’ 2-2 draw at Millwall and struggled to complete the game.

Manager Harry Redknapp last week admitted that he was concerned about the potential lack of cover for Simpson should he pick up an injury while Nedum Onuoha is out with a hamstring problem.

“With Nedum out I don’t know who I’d play at right-back if Danny got injured – it’s the one area we’re short in,” he said.

Rangers are hopeful that Simpson will be available for Saturday’s game at Turf Moor, where a win would take them back to the top of the table.

Their options would be limited if he fails to recover in time, although midfielder Karl Henry has played at right-back for his previous clubs Stoke and Wolves.
