Late Hemed goal snatches point for QPR

Hull 2 QPR 2

Tomer Hemed scored a late equaliser as QPR came back from two down to snatch a point.

Rangers, beaten in nine of their previous 11 league games, were struggling badly before a fortuitous goal by Josh Scowen just after the hour mark gave them hope.

Scowen’s ball into the box looking for Nahki Wells caught out keeper David Marshall and ended up in the net.

And Scowen set up Hemed’s 85th-minute leveller, chasing a lost cause to keep the ball in play and hook it towards his fellow substitute, who netted from close range.

Rangers, with just one league win since Boxing Day, went behind after only seven minutes and conceded again just before half-time, with Jarrod Bowen scoring both Hull goals.

Bowen collected Kamil Grosicki’s pass and cut on to his left foot before firing past keeper Joe Lumley, who had denied Bowen with a fine save shortly beforehand.

The second goal was very similar – again Grosicki provided the assist and again Bowen was allowed to cut in on his favoured left foot and score.
Rangers looked well beaten by that stage but found a way back.

Scowen, who has struggled for form this season, played a pivotal part in the comeback. He almost equalised before Hemed eventually did – the midfielder saw a volley cleared off the line by Reece Burke.

QPR: Lumley, Furlong, Leistner, Lynch, Bidwell, Wszolek, Luongo, Cameron (Scowen 55), Freeman (Osayi-Samuel 45), Eze, Wells (Hemed 79).
Subs not used: Ingram, Hall, Cousins, Manning.
