Holloway tells Ravel: Prove you deserve ice cream

Ian Holloway says QPR will ditch Ravel Morrison at the end of the season unless the player proves he is willing to work hard.

Morrison is in his second spell on loan at Loftus Road, having joined from Lazio in January with the R’s having the option of a permanent deal this summer.

But Rangers boss Holloway insists he will be strict with the 24-year-old, whose conduct off the pitch has been a concern throughout his career.

Holloway said: “He’s one of my boys and if they don’t deserve ice cream I don’t give it to them.

“That’s my advice to anybody; you’ve got to earn your ice cream.

“With my four kids, they could play up and they wouldn’t get one. That’s the hardest thing, because you love them so much you want to say ‘go on then’.

“But no. You don’t get one. Go home, think about it and try to earn one.

“If he doesn’t work as hard as the rest of them then he isn’t going to play.”

Morrison, who was booted out of Manchester United and then West Ham prior to his unsuccessful move to Italy, came on as a second-half substitute during QPR’s 2-1 win against Cardiff on Saturday.

It was only his second appearance since his loan move and his first at home.

“I love the kid, but he’s got to work hard and he’s got to be on time. In his life in the past, that hasn’t been easy for him,” Holloway said.

“When you’re as talented as him, it’s a bit of a curse sometimes. But I think my group, how we are, if we can be consistent with him then we might see the best of him.

“If not, he goes back to Lazio. It’s as simple as that. I want him to want to be with us.”
