Eustace linked with Derby manager’s job

Stories in Wednesday’s newspapers involving the area’s clubs….

QPR assistant manager John Eustace is a contender to replace Frank Lampard at Derby, the Daily Mail reckon.

Eustace, a former Derby player, was recently linked with the manager’s job at Swansea.

He was caretaker boss at Rangers last season following the sacking of Steve McClaren and is keen to land a manager’s role.

The Mail say he is set for an interview along with the likes of Darren Moore, Garry Monk and Derek McInnes.

Meanwhile, Chelsea considered appointing Portuguese boss Vitor Pereira before deciding on Lampard, The Sun claim.

Blues legend Lampard is set to leave Derby and return to Stamford Bridge as manager.

The Sun claim he was on a two-man shortlist with Pereira, who won titles in Portugal with Porto and is now at Chinese club Shanghai SIPG.

Chelsea are said to have considered appointing him before choosing Lampard because of the former England midfielder’s past association with the club.
