Eze and four Chelsea players in England Under-21 squad

QPR forward Ebere Eze has been included in the England Under-21 squad.

Chelsea’s Reece James, Marc Guehi, Conor Gallagher and Trevoh Chalobah have also been called up for the Under-21 European Championship qualifier against Albania and a friendly against the Netherlands.

So too has goalkeeper Ellery Balcombe of Brentford but there is no place for Fulham’s Steven Sessegnon, whose brother Ryan – now with Tottenham – has been included.

“These are two really difficult games and trips which will be a good challenge for the team,” said England Under-21 boss Aidy Boothroyd.

“Albania are well-organised, physically strong, they will be difficult to break down and a threat on the counter-attack. But it’s a chance for us to consolidate our position at the top of the qualification group ahead of the big international break.

“We’ve lost a few players through injury but it’s giving other players an opportunity to be involved and we’re looking forward to really putting ourselves to the test in these two matches.”
