QPR close to finalising Rangel contract extension

QPR appear to be close to finalising an extension to Angel Rangel’s contract.

The veteran right-back, who recently turned 36, has impressed since being signed in August as cover while Darnell Furlong was out with a knee injury.

West London Sport had revealed that Rangel, a free agent after leaving Swansea, was being brought in by the R’s on a short-term contract.

That deal expires next month and Rangers want to keep him until at least the end of the season.

Rangel has an option in his contract to extend the deal but his representatives have suggested that other clubs are interested in him and that the player has yet to make a decision.

However, Rangel has since indicated that he wants to stay at Loftus Road.

An agreement appears to be close and Rangel’s representatives are due to meet with QPR on Wednesday evening, potentially to finalise the deal.
