Ferdinand ‘still has a lot to offer’ – Harry

QPR manager Harry Redknapp believes Rio Ferdinand can still play at the top level if the defender can stay fit.

The 35-year-old is available on a free transfer after being released by Manchester United and is one of several high-profile players Redknapp is interested in signing.

Ferdinand played under him at West Ham, having been on QPR’s books as a schoolboy.

Redknapp said: “I’ve not discussed Rio. He would be a fantastic free transfer for somebody.

“He’s a fantastic player and still has a lot to offer. He’s had his injuries and it’s whether he stays fit. If he fit’s he’s a top, top player.”

On Tuesday Redknapp insisted there was no prospect of him signing Frank Lampard, whose Chelsea contract expires this summer.
