Crystal Palace keen to capture Campbell

Crystal Palace are looking to disappoint several other Championship clubs and sign DJ Campbell from QPR.

Palace’s former R’s boss Ian Holloway, who signed Campbell for Blackpool, is hoping to take him to Selhurst Park this month.

The striker scored 10 goals during a recent loan spell at Ipswich, whose manager Mick McCarthy wants to agree a permanent deal.

But a number of other second-tier sides are keen, with Bolton and Cardiff also discussing a move for him.

The unsettled Cisse is on his way out of QPR - and Campbell could follow.

Campbell helped Blackpool win promotion under Holloway in 2010 and scored 13 Premier League goals the following season.

He moved to Rangers in the summer of 2011 after they triggered a £1.25m release clause in his contract, but he has failed to establish himself at Loftus Road.

The 31-year-old was frozen out by Mark Hughes, whose successor as QPR boss Harry Redknapp is keen to assess Campbell before deciding whether to let him go.

Djibril Cisse is likely to be the first forward offloaded by Redknapp.

Cisse requested a move during Hughes’ troubled reign and the club are listening to offers, with Lille among those interested.

And if Redknapp is able to buy at least one of the many strikers he has been chasing, Campbell may also move on.

Meanwhile, QPR are set to table a formal bid for Rennes midfielder Yann M’Vila and remain in talks to sign Loic Remy from Marseille.
