Holloway rues missed chances after QPR defeat

Ian Holloway bemoaned two excellent chances QPR missed in their derby defeat against his former club Millwall.

Rangers were beaten 1-0 at The Den, where Holloway was given a predictably hostile reception on his return.

Steve Morison’s second-half goal proved decisive and came after Jake Bidwell had failed to score with a first-half header.

And substitute Matt Smith headed wide of the target from Luke Freeman’s 89th-minute corner.

“They took their chance and we missed ours,” R’s boss Holloway said.

“It was a pretty robust game from both teams, not many chances and it was down to who could take one.

“I’m sure Steve Morison will be delighted. I don’t quite feel the same as you might guess. Matt Smith had a good one and so did Jake Bidwell.

“We couldn’t dent them or the crowd. It was all about the first goal and we couldn’t get it. They did and after that we huffed and puffed.

“I felt we gave them a real game. It could have been us or it could have been them. Well done to them, that’s all I can say.”

Holloway’s side are next in action on New Year’s Day, when Cardiff City visit Loftus Road.
