Cisse ‘upset’ at being a sub against Stoke

Djibril Cisse has admitted he was unhappy at being left out of the starting line-up for QPR’s vital game against Stoke.

The forward came on as a substitute to score a last-minute winner as Rangers were staring at relegation back to the Championship.

It means they will head to Manchester City knowing only a defeat with other results going against them would send them down.

Manager Mark Hughes explained that he started with Bobby Zamora as a lone striker and Cisse on the bench to ensure his team were able to match a physical Stoke side in other areas of the pitch.

“It was an important game and I really wanted to play in it, so I was a bit upset to be a sub,” said Cisse.

“I decided to keep my cool and try to answer in a good way and that’s what I did, so I’m pleased.

“It was a really important goal because I know how important for the club it is to stay up. It’s not finished, but it’s in our hands.”
