Cisse joins QPR from Lazio

QPR have completed the signing of former Liverpool striker Djibril Cissé from Lazio.

The 30-year-old has agreed a two-and-a-half-year contract and joins for an undisclosed fee, believed to be around £3.8m.

He will make his debut at Aston Villa on Wednesday evening if international clearance is received in time.

Cissé was a Champions League winner during a two-year spell at Liverpool, who signed him from Auxerre in 2004.

He left Anfield for Marseille and spent the 2008/09 season back in England on loan at Sunderland, who declined to take up an option to sign him permamently.

Instead he signed for Greek club Panathinaikos, where he spent two seasons before moving to Italy.

QPR boss Mark Hughes initially doubted he would be able to sign Cisse.

But the France international was keen to return to the Premier League and Lazio made it clear they wanted to do business but were not interested in a loan deal.
