QPR beat Austrian side in pre-season friendly

Lyndon Dykes levelled for QPR after their Austrian opponents had gone ahead

Lyndon Dykes and Sinclair Armstrong scored in the second of QPR’s two pre-season friendlies in Austria, where Ilias Chair sat the game out.

Dykes equalised before Armstrong netted to give the R’s a 2-1 win against Vorwarts Steyr.

Dykes scored with a first-half penalty after being fouled, and Armstrong bundled the ball in from close range after being set up by young midfielder Rafferty Pedder on 73 minutes.

Chair, who has been nursing a knock, watched along with Jake Clarke-Salter, who limped off just 17 minutes after coming on as a substitute in a recent friendly against Slavia Prague.

Paul Smyth, who missed that game along with Armstrong, featured this time, making his first appearance since returning for a second spell at Rangers.

Smyth and Armstrong both featured for just over half an hour before going off in pre-planned substitutions.
