Holloway bullish ahead of Brentford clash

Ian Holloway has insisted QPR can beat Brentford in Monday’s derby despite their injury problems.

Rangers are without a number of players, especially in defence, and have lost their last three matches.

But manager Holloway declared: “For me it’s a great opportunity to take on Brentford.

“We’ve got to piece ourselves together for a local derby. We can win that, beat them and everything will feel a bit better.”

Holloway was also bullish after the Bees thrashed his team 4-1 at Loftus Road in the EFL Cup earlier in the season.

Brentford fans enjoyed that triumph, but Holloway hit back at them by suggesting the league matches between the two clubs would be very different.

“They were gloating. I don’t care, they can do what they like,” he said after the game in August.

“I don’t really give a monkey’s who we’ve just played and who we’ve just lost to in the cup. Let’s take them on in the league and we’ll see how we get on.

“I don’t want to lose to them, but I’d love to play them every week with my proper team and we’ll see.

“I can’t wait. It’s just spiced up the away game and the home game for me – just spiced it right up.”
