Steve McClaren believes Geoff Cameron is unlikely to be fit enough to start QPR’s game against Norwich City on Saturday.

The midfielder, 33, has been building up his fitness, having not been involved for Stoke prior to his recent loan move to Loftus Road.

Cameron made his full debut for the R’s in Wednesday’s 2-0 victory over Millwall.

It was his first start of the season and manager McClaren admits the player’s exhaustion at the end of the match means he might not be ready for this weekend’s game.

“It was important that we played Geoff Cameron,” McClaren explained.

“He’s not had a game, he’s not played – and I don’t think he’ll be fit for Saturday the way he’s crawled off.

“But we needed him and we just hope we recover. We’ve got to go again Saturday.”
