Boss shrugs off talk of Spurs wanting Taiwo

QPR manager Mark Hughes has shrugged off a report that Tottenham want Taye Taiwo but says he would not be surprised if other clubs show an interest in the left-back.

Taiwo is on loan at Rangers from AC Milan for the rest of the season with a permanent move agreed if the club stays in the Premier League.

It was claimed that Spurs are eyeing the former Marseille man, who was left out of Hughes’ starting line-up for last weekend’s game against Everton.

Hughes said: “I haven’t heard of that interest. But Taye’s a very good player who’s really integrated with the group very well.

“He has undoubted ability, has played at top clubs in Europe, and we’re pleased he’s here.

“I wouldn’t be surprised if other clubs have a look at him. They will possibly be interested but at the moment he’s very happy here.”
